Intercepting searches in the WordPress administration area (Dashboard)

By default SearchWP does not intercept searches performed in the WordPress administration area. There are two reasons for this:

  1. Performance. In order to support searching in the admin, all post types should be indexed, but that’s rarely the intent for the public-facing search.
  2. Support. SearchWP cannot integrate with custom filters or the many other customizations that may be applied to your potentially custom administration area.

As a result, having SearchWP intercept searches in the administration area is opt-in.

You can tell SearchWP to intercept searches in the administration area by ticking the checkbox on the Advanced tab of the SearchWP settings screen.

If you’d rather SearchWP not intercept searches in the administration area you can click the X icon to dismiss the notice without changing anything else.
